Florence, Zürich, Vienna, and Moscow are the cities where you can find this special combination of a traditional informal yet elegant atmosphere, with a modern touch .
The idea of opening a restaurant like the Cantinetta originated from an old Florentine tradition.
Since medieval times, the nobility, owners of the most well-known farms in the countryside surrounding Florence, would sell wines and various other products from their country estates in the wine cellars of their mansions in the city.
The exchange of commercial goods took place through tiny windows, about the size of a flask, located at street level at approximately a man’s height off the ground.
These windows were called “porticciole” (one can still find remnants of these windows along the walls of the most beautiful mansions in the city.) The Cantinetta has now revived this old tradition: a restaurant and winebar where it is possible to taste the wines from the Antinori Estates combined with traditional Tuscan delicacies.
The first Cantinetta Antinori was opened in 1957 in Florence.
Because of the success it has had over the years, other cantinettas were opened in historic cities across Europe: one in Zürich, one in Vienna, and the most recent one in Moscow.
In each Cantinetta, style and tradition are expressed in the flavors of refined traditional Tuscan cooking and are best conveyed by being paired with Antinori wines.
